Chapter 1007 - 436: Hellfire
After half an hour of rest, the battle reignited, with the helicopter directly joining the fight. Hovering near the bridgehead, it strafed with its 30mm cannon, sometimes killing three zombies with a single bullet, while many more zombies lost limbs or were dismembered. In the span of two minutes, using only the helicopter’s cannon, the bridgehead was held.
The helicopter returned to Mountain Base, and after five minutes took off again, with Maya waving goodbye to the people at Mountain Base.
Maya pressed a button, and a signal appeared on the radar screen; after locking onto the signal, the helicopter made a half-turn and flew towards the signal’s location.
People at Shadow Base stood and watched as the helicopter approached from the north, its speed increasing. Maya’s voice came through the intercom: "I’ll go ahead first."
"See you later," everyone replied in unison.
Along with the response, the helicopter, carrying an aviation fuel tank, crashed into the side of the bridge. The helicopter instantaneously turned into a fireball, and the missiles, with their safety pins already removed, detonated on impact, shaking the entire bridge as if it were hit by an earthquake. Countless pieces of debris flew about, and the massive explosion blowed away all the zombies on the scene.
After the explosion, the bridge 400 meters away from the sentry post was broken, leaving a gap that was fifteen meters high and eight meters wide. The exposed steel rebars on both sides of the gap dangled precariously. The two bridge piers near the broken gap were visibly displaced, as if the addition of any extra weight could bring down this damaged section of the bridge.
Furthermore, the area near the blast was ablaze, lighting up the sky.
