Hu Zi took out several land mines from his backpack, casually tossed them around, and said, "Retreat."
Nightmare carried the little girl on his back, Maya and Lin Wu led the way, while Hu Zi and Blood Meng covered the rear. The sound of gunfire had drawn in hordes of zombies, and Maya and Lin Wu, holding pistols, advanced while firing at the undead. Hu Zi and Blood Meng retreated in turns. Soon after, the sound of explosions came from behind them; someone had stepped on a land mine, attracting nearby zombies and forcing the pursuers to retreat.
The squad took the opportunity to flee, but a cursed drone kept hovering overhead, clearly providing location information to the gang members at the truck base. Maya led the squad into a street, relied on the awnings of the shops to hide from the drone, and then entered a pharmacy. Inside the pharmacy, there were seven zombies. Maya had already attached a silencer to her pistol, and accompanied by the subdued sound of gunfire, all seven zombies fell to the ground.
Lin Wu and Maya held their guns at the ready, while the others retreated into the pharmacy, bringing a few zombies with them, which were promptly taken care of by the duo. Maya didn’t linger and headed for the back door. Hu Zi took out a land mine, strung a fuse through the medicine shelves, then followed the team. At this moment, everyone heard the sound of a truck approaching.
Maya and Lin Wu exited through the back door, passed through a real estate broker’s shop, walked by a restaurant, and entered another pharmacy. The duo used their pistols to clear out the five zombies in the store, Lin Wu searched the store for any concealed zombies, while Maya signalled everyone to crouch by the wall.
The truck arrived, and gunmen jumped off, following the drone’s guidance into the first pharmacy. Lin Wu heard their leader communicating with the drone operator: "They’ve disappeared, only leaving behind the bodies of a few zombies."
Drone Operator: "They couldn’t have had time to leave this block."
"Freeze, there’s a booby trap." Somebody cursed, "Pretty cunning."
