The broadcast came through with a voice, faint and unclear. The two descended the stairs to the makeshift camp in front of the RV, still Shana’s voice. Besides repeating the address and other information, Shana also described the changes in the zombies through her observations with a telescope. Now, there were barely any living humans on the streets; they were filled with zombies.

After losing their targets, the zombies’ movements gradually slowed, and some zombies directly lay against trees and walls. However, this didn’t mean that the zombies had lessened their attack power. A young couple went out to scavenge for supplies, using various obstacles to stealthily advance. When they were climbing over a railing in the street, their homemade self-defense weapon fell to the ground, resulting in a surrounding attack by nearby zombies. Zombies make a throat-clearing sound when they swarm, setting off a chain reaction. It would be difficult for the young couple to survive in the midst of the encirclement even with cold weapons, let alone assault rifles.

Shana described the entire process. In her words, humans are like cola to zombies, a two-dollar bottle of cola where the first sip is worth one dollar ninety. The fresher the human blood, the more the zombies are interested, swarming and biting people until they’re full of pits and indentations. As humans lose more and more blood, the interest of the zombies gradually wanes. In about 30 seconds, a new zombie is born and quickly assimilated into the zombie family.

Shana thinks it’s better to wait a bit before going out if possible. Additionally, ground transportation is completely paralyzed; one cannot reach the rendezvous point by car.

"Through thick and thin, we can’t just call each other companions, more accurately, comrades-in-arms." Lin Wu switched the channel to a new frequency, but there was no sound.

The two cooked buckwheat noodle soup, mixed with energy bars, and started having breakfast. Midway, the new frequency resumed broadcasting. The broadcast was now transmitted by helicopter to a shelter outside of East City. It introduced the mandatory inspection process to enter the shelter; everyone had to strip naked for the check, and for the time being, the shelter did not accept refugees with suspicious bite wounds.

Currently, over four thousand people had reached the vicinity of the shelter, but due to the intricate checking process, only more than five hundred people had been admitted. This morning, a conflict occurred between soldiers and refugees, resulting in casualties on both sides. The broadcaster requested everyone to put themselves in each other’s shoes and cooperate with the soldiers’ work. She also shared some good news: East City, a hundred kilometers away from the shelter, had begun to set up shelters outside the city, preparing to admit refugees who could make it to East City.

The residents of East City were aware of the events occurring in Day After Tomorrow City and strongly demanded the closure of all transportation arteries. In the end, the town hall decided to establish shelters outside the city.

The broadcast relayed news brought by the survivors from the city, mostly bad news. The industrial zones and logistics parks’ fires were intensifying. The prison in the southern suburbs had riots, likely to form a violent force.

Of course, there was also good news. The biggest capital company, Fortress Company, would provide a large amount of supplies to the East City shelter every day. It was also recruiting mercenaries and volunteers in preparation to establish shelters in the southwestern and northern outskirts of Day After Tomorrow City. The broadcaster bluntly stated that there were currently no forces available to rescue the survivors within the city.
