Upon hearing their leader’s pitiful cries, the wolf pack instantly lost their formation, rushing blindly into the darkness and fleeing in all directions.

After all, it was the leader’s wife that died, not their own, and now there was no need to risk their lives over a dead leader’s wife. The outcome was quite favorable: the leader was dead, and all the fighters lived.
