Maya was busy categorizing and taking inventory of the ammunition. She was principled in both her actions and personal conduct, never ’accidentally’ taking more than her share of what belonged to Nightmare, who was seen holding a book and daydreaming. Maya reminded her, "You should check the weapons and Skill Books first."
Nightmare walked over and said to Maya, "Leave my share of fuel, canned food, and bullets."
Maya asked, "Is there something wrong?"
Nightmare shook her head, looking back at the pink world, and said, "I have some personal history with her, and I don’t want to completely obliterate her."
Maya didn’t understand, "If you have that kind of relationship with her, why did you bring us here?"
Nightmare replied, "I only realized there were certain things I hadn’t expected after we arrived. I’ll explain later; I’ll leave this place to you, I’m heading up."
"Okay," said Maya, watching Nightmare ascend the sloping ladder. She switched to a private channel with Lin Wu, "Change our hideout location and continue to stay on guard, watch out for Nightmare turning against us." She acutely sensed a change in Nightmare’s mentality.
"Understood." Lin Wu would have questioned others what turning against them meant, but Lin Wu never liked Nightmare. To him, people he disliked inherently had questionable morals, and for those with questionable morals, betrayal wasn’t a big deal. Casually, Lin Wu asked, "How’s the loot?"
Maya replied, "Not bad, Blood Meng has more bullets and fuel reserves than Nightmare."
Lin Wu sighed, "Poor my dear sister. Help me save 21 handgun bullets and a pistol for her. And leave a note saying it’s a favor returned from her brother." He was still too kind-hearted, unable to forget the kindness of a gifted gun. If everyone were as magnanimous as he, there would be no more grudges in the world.
"Okay," Maya agreed. Her emotional sensitivity was either dull, or she chose not to waste thought on such matters; she was merely concerned about whether Blood Meng would seek revenge.
