Chapter 527 - 264: Return to North Town (Part 2)

After walking along the railway tracks for approximately an hour and a half, the two turned from the northwest to the north direction. There was no forest on the side to block the wind, creating a wind funnel, and a strong gust hit them head-on. This was Shana’s first experience of feeling like she was taking off. Lin Wu reacted quickly, squatting and stretching out his leg to cushion Shana’s head as she fell.

The two stepped back a few paces, and the force of the wind lessened. Shana recalled the nearby terrain from memory and said, "The crosswind section is about a kilometer. After one kilometer, we will be facing the wind head-on for the entire journey."

Nightmare, though not intending to trap Lin Wu, could trap him unintentionally. She had been traveling from the safe house to Doomsday Fortress, mostly with the wind at her back.

Lin Wu looked back and saw a short tunnel about fifty meters away: "Shana, stay here. I’ll give you the incendiary grenades and wolf meat."

Shana said, "I’ve already told you, I have never faced difficulties head-on. I know it’s dangerous, I know it’s hard, just like I’ve given up every time. But today I want to try, to challenge myself, to prove to myself..."

Lin Wu, losing patience, asked, "Are you going or not?"

"I’m going."

"Then go, why all this nonsense."

Immediately irritated, Shana stepped on Lin Wu’s toes. He moved his foot away, placing his shoes on top of Shana’s. She could only hum and turn her head to the side.

Lin Wu chuckled, retracted his foot, and took out the rope he always carried when going out; the two tied the ropes around their waists. As soon as Lin Wu left the comfort zone, the crosswind swept through, instantly blowing away the hooded raincoat. Lin Wu retreated, stuffed the straw coat into his backpack, and Shana likewise removed her raincoat. They looked at each other, nodded, and Lin Wu set off again.

They proceeded one behind the other, keeping their bodies as low as possible, even devolving from upright beings to crawling creatures to avoid being swept away by the crosswind. After about two hundred meters, the terrain to the right of the railway tracks began to lower, and they moved to the right side, using the protruding parts of the tracks to block the wind and continued moving forward while crouching, significantly increasing their speed.
