Chapter 507 - 256 CLEO_2
Throw a smoke bomb? No, throwing a smoke bomb now would surely sweep me away with the heavy artillery. A major flaw in Doomsday Fortress was exposed—although Zombies are easy to defend against but hard to attack, it was equally difficult for defenders to escape. Swimming a hundred meters in the sea and in a lake were entirely different concepts. The ceaseless onslaught of seawater suffocated me as it filled my nostrils and throat, creating a highly uncomfortable sensation.
Lin Wu was at the junction of the sea and river. When the tide rose, the sea water would flow backward into the area, turning it into the sea. With the ebb tide, the river gained the upper hand, and it became a river again.
Lin Wu dived and sneaked out from under the towboat at the bottom of the water, then swiftly climbed aboard the ship. Zombies were tumbling down from Shanghai Dike Road, starting to climb the sides of the ship. Lin Wu, with his agility, entered the cockpit first. Trapped, with no way to retreat, he had no choice but to pick up a gun and eliminate the zombies that rushed in.
Before long, a small mountain of zombie carcasses had piled up at the cockpit door, significantly reducing the attacking force of the Zombies, yet they still pressed on toward the cockpit. This led to the corpses being squeezed into the cockpit, filling it to the brink. Although Lin Wu was packed in to the point of nausea, the bodies provided him some protection, allowing him to hold on.
Even so, zombies continued to reach through the gaps between the bodies, groping for Lin Wu. The dry and flaky zombie bodies left substantial spaces in between, resulting in Lin Wu getting a firm touch. Fortunately, it was just a touch. Seeing this, Lin Wu couldn’t afford to idle; he used his body to block the corpses, creating enough space for his hands to continue unlocking Lock Head. As long as Lin Wu could see a zombie, Lock Head would instantly activate, and upon pulling the trigger, the bullet would follow an unbelievable, devilish, and inconceivable trajectory to blow the zombie’s head off.
The more corpses there were, the safer Lin Wu became. Relying on the bodies, Lin Wu managed to hold out until the task was completed, and the sense of pressure suddenly eased. Lin Wu started digging his way out, pushing and wriggling until he finally squeezed through to the outer layer, where he put his mouth and nose in the gaps between the corpses and inhaled a breath of fresh air. After a greedy gasp, Lin Wu continued to wriggle out and finally emerged from the cockpit.
However, while the task-specific zombies had left, those drawn by the noise still lingered on Shanghai Dike Road. Lin Wu didn’t disembark, instead, he picked up a handgun and began a killing spree. These disorderly and undisciplined zombies had no specific target, and since Lin Wu used only Silent Night, they couldn’t hear the gunfire and fell one by one to his shots.
After clearing an area, Lin Wu climbed up onto Shanghai Dike Road, where about a dozen zombies remained. He reloaded and kept killing. Having already spent so many bullets, what were a few more? Deep in debt, one can hardly be overwhelmed by a feather.
When the last zombie fell, Maya and the others had also returned, with Shana Team in tow. Everyone looked at the corpses on the ship and the sea, then at Lin Wu standing in the middle of the road, holding a dagger, and were utterly amazed.
As if! No one believed this guy could have killed so many Zombies with a dagger. Realizing this, Maya’s heart almost stopped. She forced herself to remain calm and approached Lin Wu, "Are you okay?"
Lin Wu held the dagger up to his forehead, carefully examining the blade, and said softly, "I’m fine, but they’re another story."
