Kingdom of Corrosion

Chapter 408 - 217 Seven-Star Siege

After entering Sewer 99, Lin Wu initially spent 20 seconds surveying the blueprint, before moving quickly forward with Wai, relying on memory after confirming he couldn’t understand the blueprint. Minutes later, they arrived at a landmark lit up with a bright sign, where they encountered eight zombies. Lin Wu took down four with the Silencer, Silent Night killed two, and the last two were disposed of with the Wind Stinger.

Leaving the heap of zombies behind, they moved on. Wai’s head emitted specks of Starlight and a series of bows, which looked eerie rather than endearing in the dark tunnel. However, the faint light alerted Lin Wu that Wai had entered an alert state; its head turned to the side, exuding hostility.

Lin Wu spotted a fork in the path seven meters away and knew what to do; he turned off his headlamp and entered Stealth mode. Wai followed suit, crouching and proceeding like a cat. Leaning around the corner, Lin Wu suddenly turned and switched his headlamp back on, "Oops!" He saw the Night Demons, but he hadn’t expected three of them in such a tight space, with the furthest no more than two meters away.

Three people, suddenly encountering one wolf, would instinctively jump in fright, but the three Night Demons didn’t jump when they ran into Lin Wu, which went against the norm. After their initial fright, three people might attack the wolf since they outnumber it. But the Night Demons didn’t attack; overwhelmed by the bright light and discovery, they collectively followed their system-instinct command: flee.

The result was two Night Demons dead from headshots, and the third skedaddling. Lin Wu took a couple of steps in pursuit, then suddenly remembered the ambush he had previously experienced and, gun ready, turned toward the small passage on the left. Sure enough, a Night Demon sprang forth, nearly face to face, its paw-like hand raised in attack. Lin Wu’s Silencer in hand, Lock Head loaded, the bullet flew out and spun 180 degrees to kill it. The Night Demon that was shot in the head staggered for 0.1 seconds before collapsing, taking down Lin Wu under its weight.

Every part of the Night Demon was muscle, weighing over a hundred kilograms. Lin Wu struggled to free himself: "Wai."

Wai ran up, tearing and dragging the corpse of the Night Demon aside, assisting its master to escape the predicament. Lin Wu looked around and then crouched to pat the dog’s head: "Today’s event, you and I know. If a third person finds out, you know what will happen, right?"

Wai looked at Lin Wu, unable to comprehend such a long command.
