Lin Wu took out a small dagger and began poking at the glass. The noise wasn’t loud, but the damage was clearly visible. Maya looked up but didn’t make a sound. The first reason, she had no better plan. The second reason, perhaps Lin Wu really could poke through it. Past experiences had taught Maya that Lin Wu often managed to do some unusual things.
The third reason, sometimes when breaking a window, a small hammer is more effective than a big hammer. The Philippines had proven this with stupidity and the loss of many lives. The reasoning was that the middle part of these reinforced or tempered glasses was the strongest, and hitting the middle would only create a hole, but striking the edge with a safety hammer could shatter the glass.
Lin Wu, clearly a recipient of compulsory education, poked small holes around the perimeter and then gave a few more taps, causing the entire pane of glass to crack. Lifting the deformed glass that was still connected, he set it aside, then leaned forward with his hands on the edge and pulled himself up. Maya supported Lin Wu’s feet with both hands, pushing him up.
Upon the crane, they found two ropes, of which only one was hidden. Using the other rope, Lin Wu successfully helped Maya out. The process that followed was simple and smooth, and the two spent some time walking back to the Sawmill via the air corridor.
