Chapter 368 - 201: Visitors to the Commerce Pavilion_2
Shana reminded, "The use of assault rifles at both bases will result in a continuous onslaught of zombies against our defenses, this problem needs to be addressed first."
In the headset, Maya ordered, "Switch all rifles with silencer values lower than 70 to handguns." The higher the silencer value, the quieter the sound. After conversion, a value of 70 meant that the gunshot’s radius of influence was 15 meters. It was basically impossible for 7.62 caliber rifles, while some 5.56 rifles exceeded this threshold. Maya had already started to worry about the system’s siege. Left County was no North Town; a single gunshot could draw the undead from half the district to the feast.
Maya was quite annoyed that in the recent days she had been expanding Resource Points, trying to open up various routes, but had neglected the most basic base defense. However, she wasn’t worried about Lin Wu being cornered at all.
How long could Lin Wu hold out?
Lin Wu could hold out for quite some time. His Sentry post had a rope, not a lifeline, but a lazy rope. He would rely on Agility to climb up for his shift, and simply slide down to avoid the pain of circling up the stairs. The 15-meter-high Sentry was as tall as a 5- or 6-story building.
Lin Wu didn’t come down to the ground; he hung three meters high, wrapped the rope around his right arm a few times to secure his body, and repaired his gun and loaded bullets in midair.
The zombies crowding the Sentry post began to gnaw at the ropes, so Lin Wu swung the rope, propelling himself outwards to the edge of the rooftop. Two Frenzies came chasing after him, and the fully armed Lin Wu waited for the Frenzies to get close before executing a burst of Lock Head shots, headshotting each one. His main body sped up stamina recovery while his sub-Will reduced the stamina cost of skills. With the recovery midway, one full stamina bar was enough to kill the two Frenzies.
After eliminating the Frenzies, the pressure on Lin Wu reduced significantly, and he turned to provide fire support to the area below from the edge of the rooftop. With the noise reduced, the number of zombies entering the safe zone greatly diminished, and it was time to clear them out. Minutes later, all undead were butchered, and without any casualties, this sudden crisis was resolved.
Wai was released immediately, and Lin Wu ordered it to the Sentry tower of the main base. The only life paid in this battle were the chickens; a total of four chickens died in this fight. Shana took the remaining chickens, shovel in hand, and held a small funeral for the fallen fowl beside the weather station.
After everything was sorted, it was time for the main event: trading with NPC merchants.
