"Stop," Lin Wu crouched in stealth, "There’s a shadow around the corner."

Emerald Feather said, "If there were zombies, they should have run out."

"Unless it’s a Night Demon." Lin Wu’s miner lamp illuminated, making the ten-meter-long path crystal clear. There were no shadows cast at the right bend. Lin Wu quickly stepped forward, pivoted around the corner with his gun raised, but saw no zombies. There was only a small path for drainage with several paths connected to it.

The game’s flood discharge channels were very regular. There were three drainage outlets on the ground above a pathway, and the water from the three outlets would flow into the path. With nine outlets, there were three paths, with water flowing from the paths into a transverse pathway. The more outlets there were, the more pathways there would be. If the number of outlets was insufficient, or if the pathways were too narrow, a single hour of heavy rain could turn a city into a lake, commonly known as urban flooding.

One reason for frequent urban flooding in 21st-century Earth cities was the absence of specialized flood discharge channels. Many discharge channels were mixed with the city’s domestic sewage system. Some cities, for the sake of convenience, did not excavate sewer systems but used pipes instead. Once the population increased and heavy rain occurred, urban flooding could easily happen.

While the game’s flood discharge channels connected many pathways, they couldn’t be called a labyrinth, but there were quite a few intersections.

Lin Wu returned to the main path, the primary route for floodwater to enter the river, and shook his head to the others. Maya nodded in understanding and commanded the group to continue walking forward.
