Chapter 345 - 193: Aerial Corridor_2
Just as Lin Wu was intently eliminating zombies, the noise of the sawmill pierced his eardrums. Lin Wu stuck his head out to look toward the factory, only to see everyone blocking their ears as they ran from the interior of the factory to the backyard. Indeed, there really was no such thing as a free lunch—the cost of adding one building material unit per hour not only increased the threat value but also forced players to endure the torment of the noise.
The one with the best mentality had to be Shana, who put on her Nuclear Portable Player and sat on the ground, enjoying the entire sawing process. Oddly enough, the process of cutting the logs was neat and efficient, which was quite stress-relieving.
Outside the safe zone where you couldn’t hear the noise, you wouldn’t directly attract zombies, which meant the system still retained some basic decency. Why do I say so? Because the sound insulation in the barracks was very poor, and lying in bed, all you could hear was a booming, hissing sound. Even when sleeping and dreaming, the sound of the sawmill—boom, hiss, hiss—echoed in the dreams.
The system determined the sleep environment to be poor in quality, so 5 hours of sleep were changed to 6 hours. However, come the summer season, this problem would be resolved as the system would no longer regulate sleep time or location. Still, it required everyone to have a bed. If the base didn’t have enough beds, all members would be in a low-spirited state.
Waking up early in the morning, Lin Wu walked out of the barracks with a dull look, surrounded by buildings and the incessant sound of sawing in his ears. Lin Wu was just about to sit down on the ground when Stone, wearing a straw hat, pulled Lin Wu to sit on a chair in the farm area and covered Lin Wu’s head with his own straw hat. During this, Lin Wu didn’t struggle or resist, his mind filled only with the booming, hissing noise of the saw.
Snow Egg and Shana were on sentry duty, and the others gradually came out of their dormitories, looking around with vacant eyes. After Little Knife found a place to sit in the backyard, the rest also sat down side by side, no one asking why they were sitting there. After sitting for a while and coming back to their senses, Little Knife looked around and called out loudly, "Where’s Lin Wu?"
Snow Egg up in the watchtower replied, "I don’t know."
Maya answered through the headset, "He should have gone out."
