Kingdom of Corrosion

Chapter 285 - 169: Mindset

Maya stepped out of the main entrance and stood amidst the Blood Mist, drawing her pistol to teach everyone how to grip it properly. These tactics normally wouldn’t need to be explained; she could have jumped straight to assault rifles. But after listening to Shana’s account of last night’s battle, Maya thought the less noisy pistol was more practical than the assault rifle in certain aspects. Though the assault rifles were powerful, they cost more. Moreover, in complex terrain, where close combat was common, pistols were more practical than rifles.

Isn’t there close combat? Close combat is less efficient, and it’s difficult to attack while moving.

About ten zombies emerged from the Blood Mist, and Maya waited until they entered the safety zone of the base before raising her gun and advancing, "Remember, when you raise your gun to aim, the pistol should not be between your eyes. It should align so it’s a straight line from your left eye, Crosshair, and the zombie’s head, or from your right eye, Crosshair, and the zombie’s head. When you start moving and shooting, don’t rely on intuition and the feel of the gun, you must get used to the sight’s direct aim. Using one hand to hold the gun is not recommended."

Maya said, "Don’t stretch the pistol too far, keep it as close to your dominant eye as possible. The shorter the distance between Crosshair and your eye, the faster the aiming speed." After speaking, she gripped the pistol with both hands, pulled the trigger, and calmly stepped forward, shooting zombies in the head one by one. Whether it was at five or ten meters, Maya didn’t waste a single bullet and quickly took down all the zombies.

"Ready to change the magazine," Maya maintained the aiming stance, pulled out a spare magazine with her left hand while continuing to shoot with her right, and used the hand with the spare magazine to help balance. Then, as the bullets were exhausted, she ejected the magazine and loaded a new one, "This way, you can maintain the pistol’s firepower."

Maya called out, "Lin Wu, prod the screamer."

"Got it," Lin Wu took a long pole from the warehouse, a relic from Shana. Just as Lin Wu approached the screamer, he stopped and returned, "There’s a Titan nearby."

"Distance."

Lin Wu thought for a moment. Front door, back door, plus the passage, plus the supermarket, how far would it be? He said, "At the location of the small lake at the back door."

Knowing the layout of the supermarket, Maya said, "It’s fine."

Lin Wu prodded then, and the screamer attracted a large crowd of zombies. Maya signaled, "Little Knife, you go first, prioritize accuracy."

Little Knife’s marksmanship was so poor it was painful to watch. She couldn’t hit anything at ten meters, at five meters she might hit by chance, at three meters one out of three, and even at a distance of one meter, she could miss the target. An emergency upgrade to the medical room was ordered by Lin Wu, and Little Knife became the first patient in the second bed. Maya thought Little Knife’s problem lay in the panic that set in when a shot missed a zombie, causing the gun to shake and her to alternate focus between her left and right eyes on the Crosshair.
