Kingdom of Corrosion

The day shift crew gathered at the entrance of the tunnel. Since Lin Wu and Maya were soaked through, everyone collected dry branches and started a fire at the tunnel entrance. Maya took this opportunity to arrange tasks. The team was split into two groups, Lin Wu, Maya, and Horse Soul in one, capable of facing multiple zombies and eliminating Frenzy. Little Knife, Snow Egg, and Shana formed the other group, with Little Knife responsible for Frenzy while the others dealt with scattered zombies.

Once the fight started, everyone realized that dividing the team was pointless, as Maya and Little Knife were basically handling all the killing while the others strolled and chatted behind them. Snow Egg asked about the new base, and Lin Wu described it, which couldn’t compare to Shadow base. Horse Soul talked about amusing incidents at Bai Ban. After being apart for half a day, their relationships seemed to have grown closer.

Perhaps this is the beauty that comes from distance.

Gradually, Lin Wu and Shana fell behind. Lin Wu politely asked if she was accustomed to the leadership work, but the usually reticent Shana bluntly said, "One team, two leaders, what do you think?"

Lin Wu said, "It’s all part of the job."

Shana expressed some regret, "If it wasn’t for my poor abilities, getting tangled in emotional disputes, you wouldn’t have abandoned me."

Lin Wu responded, "Not entirely, but you’re not wrong. Bai Ban is fortunate; everyone happily scavenges together, jokes around, each person armed, and the scavenging zones have been scouted by Maya in advance, so there’s hardly any great danger."

Shana said, "But you prefer exploration."

Lin Wu nodded, "Yes, exploring carries risks. I am rather indifferent to my own life or death; I don’t want to cause others’ deaths because of my caprice."
