Chapter 64 - 63 Marriage System
Stone easily came up with a straightforward solution, "On Monday and Thursday, Lin Wu and Little Knife, Tuesday and Friday, Snow Egg and Horse Soul, Wednesday and Saturday, Maya and Shana, with Sundays off." These three pairs had a trait in common—they not only refrained from quibbling over work but were also likely to cover for each other’s tasks. Needless to say, about Lin Wu and Little Knife. Snow Egg and Horse Soul were close as iron brothers. Martha and Shana disliked being in each other’s debt.
The first phase of the meeting ended, and they entered the second phase. The second phase included work and team assignments.
The Former Shadow Base had finished scavenging Apartment 1, yielding mostly dismantled electronics and such, without any guns, ammunition, or Skill Books. Another discovery was a large number of textual materials: books, magazines, newspapers, diaries, and so on.
Based on speculation, the other apartment buildings probably didn’t contain anything of significant value, but the work still needed to be done. Maya decided to divide the team into two parts. The first part, Day Shift Team A, would continue scavenging the apartment buildings and factories, which covered a large area and were expected to take about two weeks to fully loot. The second part, Team B, which could be day or night shift, would ride motorcycles past the Sentry Card, cross the bridge, and start scouting operations in the suburbs of North City in Left County while also scavenging for valuables to lay a foundation for moving into Left County after winter.
An indispensable member of Team B was Lin Wu, paired with Maya for several reasons. One option was for Maya to team up with Lin Wu, but this would waste Maya’s leadership skills and offer little help to Lin Wu. The second candidate was Little Knife—obedient and capable of taking on armored zombies—both night shift choices. The third candidate was Shana; the two could work together to pass through the Sentry Card during the daytime when the risk was much lower than at night.
Shana spoke up first, "I suggest Maya pairs with Lin Wu, given the main task is scouting. There might be Sudoku puzzles when scavenging for valuables."
Snow Egg raised a hand to suggest, "For scouting only, I recommend Horse Soul and Shana as a team. They are cautious, have a good sense of the big picture, and are decisive."
Lin Wu: I’m very decisive, thank you very much.
Not to be outdone, Horse Soul said, "I think Snow Egg and Shana make a good team, they excel in communication, which benefits the team."
