Kingdom of Corrosion

Chapter 61 - 60 Right County

The trade team passed through the train zone without a hitch and the road ahead widened considerably. Lin Wu and two crossbowmen were responsible for clearing the way, and although their pace was slow, it was safe. After spending two hours, the Shadow Base Trade Team finally emerged from the tunnel and arrived at Right County, where they met the guide sent by the Wanderers at the tunnel entrance.

Standing atop a high vantage point and gazing out at the endless plains was exhilarating. Besides the scenery and topography, the number of players in Right County far surpassed that of Left County. Teams of two or three players were often encountered on the road in Right County. These player teams seemed to have a tacit understanding, maintaining a distance of about 10 meters from each other.

The guide introduced the situation with the Wanderers to everyone. Their headache was base defense, with a threat level of five stars making them jittery—the worst part was if the siege didn’t start soon, they would face six stars by tomorrow evening.

The guide held a similar position within the Wanderer base as Maya’s within her own base. Maya, who was willing to answer any questions, shared her experiences of base defense with them. The time passed quickly with sightseeing and chatting, and soon they arrived at the Wanderer base.

The boss of the Wanderers personally received the trade team. According to the prior arrangement made over the radio, they first exchanged a batch of goods, successfully trading three small pistols for items like chewing gum and a cooking skill book.

Next came the time to set up shop, with stalls placed on the edge of the Wanderer base. Shana was in charge of making trades. Due to the Wanderers’ advance notice and preparation, countless players came to trade at the base. The bustling atmosphere brought about by the congregation of players was a scene that simply couldn’t be witnessed in Left County, making a direct impression on the trade team.

The core members of the Wanderers and people like Lin Wu exchanged experiences over tea. Since Lin Wu had multiple close encounters with mutant zombies, he shared his encounters with Blind Bats, Night Demons, Frenzy, and Blood Plague. According to the Wanderers’ members, Frenzy was encountered quite frequently in Right County and Night Demons occasionally as well. It was the first time they had heard about Blind Bats and Blood Ferocious Ma. Shadow Base got wind of a new type of mutant zombie from the Wanderers.

This new type of mutant zombie was a kind of semi-flying zombie, named Six Wings. These zombies had wings on their backs but didn’t fly. They were called semi-flying because they were adept at climbing trees and liked to hide in the tree canopy, making them the only known zombie variant capable of climbing up vertical ladders.

When Six Wings zombies spotted their prey, they would leap out and spread their wings, swooping down on ground players in a gliding fashion. Due to their weight being similar to that of humans, combined with the force of momentum, they could inflict substantial damage on players.

After being tackled by a zombie, the importance of the strength attribute became clear; players who had enhanced their strength could push the zombie aside immediately. Players who had not increased their strength had no choice but to rely on rapidly consuming their stamina to fend off the zombie.

Six Wings would make no sound before attacking, and they didn’t adhere to any behavioural patterns of day and night. The most effective way to deal with them was to stay away from high places, such as water towers, signal towers, or buildings taller than four stories where Six Wings might lurk.
