Kingdom of Corrosion

Chapter 38 - 37 Night Battle with Blind Bat

The mission began. Two NPCs entered the farm building, and soon a zombie spawned near the farm and rushed towards it, which Maya easily intercepted and dealt with. Another zombie appeared, and Maya took it out with her crossbow arrow.

Meanwhile, Lin Wu, who had gone to urinate, finally found the Screeching Zombie and slapped it across the face. Dazed and infuriated by the slap, the Screeching Zombie let out an angry howl, which immediately attracted nearby zombies. Lin Wu circled around the farm, each time he saw the Screeching Zombie, he would run up to it and do a little twirl in front of it. Before long, Lin Wu was leading a procession of zombies in the wide open plains with sparse corpses.

Lin Wu, not rushing but not dawdling either, approached the farm and heard an unusual sound. He turned his head and discovered a Frenzy mixed in among the zombies. He didn’t dare to delay and accelerated into the farm, where Maya had already climbed onto the neighboring barn. Passing by the two NPCs, Lin Wu greeted, "Hi," without stopping then ran out ten meters before turning back to watch.

The Frenzy charged ahead, facing the assault rifle. The NPC pulled the trigger and bullets sprayed out, but the Frenzy’s head wasn’t hit. Its body, struck repeatedly by bullets, collapsed to the side and started howling. The NPC emptied a magazine into the Frenzy, and in moments, it was turned into mincemeat.

At this time, the horde also reached the two NPCs. The assault rifle stepped back to reload, while the ever-alert shotgun stood in front of him. He pumped the shotgun and took down a zombie with a headshot. Pumped again, another headshot. He kept firing while slowly backpedaling. After the seven shots were fired, he swapped places with the assault rifle NPC; he started loading while the assault rifle went into burst mode—three bullets per burst, each burst guaranteeing a zombie’s head would explode, prioritizing the Screeching Zombies, dead accurate.

The two NPCs kept firing while retreating, and by the time they reached the edge of the farm, there were no standing zombies left inside.

This combat capability, damn!

Lin Wu shouted, "Loot the corpses." In the face of overwhelming firepower, the zombies were like paper—fragile, and even the ferocious Frenzy was no more than fodder.

The gunshots attracted more sporadic zombies, and together with those spawned for the mission, around a dozen more hurried towards the farmhouse. Lin Wu and Maya ignored them, focusing on corpse looting beside the NPCs. When the zombies got close enough to the NPCs, they would take action. If there were few zombies, they would use melee weapons; if there were many, they would use guns.
