Chapter 431: Freed’s Defeat
"You... what are you going to do?" Evergreen’s voice trembled. She was starting to panic. Summoning a giant, ugly toad at a time like this couldn’t mean anything good.
"Nothing much," Rhodes said, his tone eerily calm. "Just planning to toss you into its mouth. Don’t worry, its venom only corrodes slowly. First your clothes and your hair, then your skin... until there’s not a single patch left untouched."
He tilted his head slightly, studying her with a chilling smile. "It’s a shame about your face. Not pretty enough to be satisfying, but since you called yourself a fairy, I suppose you’re at least qualified to die with the others."
He stepped closer. "A beautiful girl like you being digested alive by a ugly toad... what a waste. So do me a favor and scream louder. It might ease my guilt a little. After all, I couldn’t save the others."
The smile on his lips sent a chill down Evergreen’s spine.
Elfman silently stepped aside, distancing himself from the scene.
He had assumed Rhodes was bluffing, just trying to scare her. But that smile... it was too real. Too dangerous. Too twisted.
He couldn’t be sure anymore. Was Rhodes actually serious?
The stone shackles and the krugs that had restrained Evergreen crumbled to dust. Yet her limbs wouldn’t move. She was frozen in place, shaking so badly that even if she could move, she wouldn’t dare.
Rhodes gestured to the venomous frog, which opened its mouth in response. The dark interior gleamed with thick purple saliva.
Gripping Evergreen’s arm, Rhodes spoke coldly. "Let this be your final mercy. I’ll count to ten. Prepare yourself."
