Chapter 858: Gnashing Teeth in Anger

Memorials to the throne were scattered all over the floor, and Eunuch Li was pitifully crawling on the ground, picking them up.
The currently reigning Emperor, having just lashed out in a fit of temper, was sitting on the Dragon Throne, resting with a dark expression on his face.

It just so happened that War Prince’s Mansion, early in the morning, sent a carriage full of dead bodies to the front gate of the Imperial Palace, claiming they were following War Prince’s orders to deliver the corpses.
There was also an accompanying letter from War Prince, which stated that the beauties the Emperor had sent him had unfortunately met with tragedy the previous night. Not daring to bury them hastily to avoid showing disrespect to the Emperor, after much contemplation, they had no choice but to command servants to return the bodies to the Imperial Palace with a horse-drawn carriage for the Emperor to personally handle.
Upon hearing this, the Emperor was so angry that it caused him chest pain. Even so, he was helpless against War Prince. No matter how angry he got, he could only contain it. After all, he was the supreme ruler of a nation yet lacking military power in his hands.
Indeed, in the preceding years, Moli Country often faced aggression from foreign enemies, thus, before realizing it, most of the military power had fallen into War Prince’s hands.
The Emperor was aware of this, so no matter how angry he got, he dared not openly challenge War Prince. He could only hide in the Imperial Study Room, throwing objects in a tantrum.
Poor Eunuch Li, the Personal Eunuch, facing a floor covered in memorials, had no option but to kneel down alone and painstakingly pick them up one by one. He was old and frail; the task was extremely arduous.
Other Little Eunuchs were not allowed to casually enter the Imperial Study Room, hence, many tasks had to be done by himself.
