Chapter 428: The Coralline Labyrinth
As our army kept advancing through the ground floor of G’Henna’s castle, we reached an area closer to the center where our visibility got even worse, not because it was darker but because there were massive coralline walls blocking our path.
The walls seemed to have grown naturally and were arranged in a strange pattern that almost resembled a labyrinth.
We could sense demonic energy flowing from within the coral labyrinth, so it was clear that there were devils somewhere around those walls.
To make our transversal of the area a bit easier, we decided to send smaller groups of soldiers so that they could explore every nook and cranny. Even though some of the pathways in the area were pretty wide, sending a thousand soldiers or more through it could easily work against us.
Vespera had hundreds of her demon spiders walking around the ground floor, and she decided to assign one small spider to each of the soldier groups. This would not only allow her to see everything they did, but the spiders could also help in a fight if they needed it.
Arashi and Vespera went into the labyrinth by themselves, saying they would reunite with us again near the staircase. Funnily enough, I never thought that those two would get along so well—I mean, I didn’t think they would hate each other either, but the Storm Dragon befriending the Queen Demon Spider wasn’t something that ever crossed my mind.
Melina and I were joined by Jackson, Karla, and Nessa—the two devils who were on our side. Of course, Yoru was also coming with us, but he was inside my shadow as I didn’t want to have any blindspots while inside enemy territory.
Our group was the first one to enter the labyrinth after Arashi and Vespera had already left, and a few minutes of walking later, we were ambushed by a few fiends who were stupid enough to attack us.
After taking them down with ease, we kept moving forward along the coral walls until Jackson spoke up, turning around to gaze at me.
