Chapter 362: Helena and May
While we kept walking with the large group of villagers to the place known as The Pit, I kept talking with Helena about her husband, thinking that I could get a clue on how Baelzor’s powers worked.
She told me that she and her family used to live in the capital, which the people of the north called the "Grey Fortress," as the structures were made with a rocky material that was almost impossible to break.
Helena didn’t know the details of how Baelzor managed to control the entire country, but having a soldier for a husband gave her some insight into what was happening.
She said that one day, a man who went by the name of Boris appeared out of nowhere and got accepted by the king to be his new advisor.
Nobody knew who he was or why the king had accepted a random man as his advisor. Still, there was nothing they could do to refute the king’s commands.
After a few years, the king called all of the soldiers and politicians of the country to the castle. However, instead of having the king give a speech, it was Boris who spoke up and revealed his identity.
Once Boris showed his true form as Baelzor the devil, the soldiers and politicians got defensive and were ready to battle the demon right at that moment.
Nonetheless, Baelzor’s magic was already having an effect on them, clouding their minds and filling them with the devil’s commands.
Helena’s husband, whose name was Isak, noticed that all of the soldiers around him were being brainwashed and rushed out of the castle to visit his family and tell them what had happened.
Isak made it in time and managed to blurt out everything. However, as soon as he divulged the entire story, his head started to ache to the point that it made him kneel from the pain.
*ahem* "Sorry... It’s a bit hard to talk about it," said Helena, stopping her story for a moment.
