Chapter 112: Infiltrating a Noble’s Mansion
After freeing the people who were being held captive under Romanov’s residence, I asked them to wait for me while I searched his house.
The old man, Lovegrad, warned me about the guards and servants that still roamed the building, but I told him not to worry about that as I made my way up the stairs.
When I got to the surface door, I pulled a lever and came out of a secret entrance inside a wine cellar.
’Huh, it led to his basement...’ I thought as I scanned the wine barrels around me.
As I left the underground room and got to the halls of the mansion, I realized there was no way I wouldn’t get lost.
It was nighttime, so the place wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be.
I saw a couple of maids walking along the corridors, but I was able to hide by floating and sticking to the ceiling nervously while praying they wouldn’t look up.
’Maybe I should develop an invisibility spell or something...’ I thought as the maids passed by.
After successfully sneaking past other maids, I saw a door that had two guards standing outside.
’If he hadn’t placed guards around that door, I would’ve never known that room was important...’ I thought, almost thanking the noble for telling me where his room was.
Using a mix of air and water magic, I began creating a thick mist to cover the hall leading to the room, promptly alerting the guards who walked inside the mist with their weapons raised.
