Chapter 60: Melina’s Perspective (Part 3)
While sparring with the knights, I noticed that none of them wanted to be my partner because they were scared of hurting me.
I even heard one of them saying: "We are commoners. If we hurt the princess, the king will have our heads!"
("Seriously? Who the hell do they think we are?") I thought, offended.
Luckily, one of the knights offered to be my partner, and I used that chance to show everyone my skills, swiping the feet of the knight from the ground as I waved my wooden sword from afar and cast air magic to make him fall on his back.
After that first sparring session, I had no trouble looking for a partner again.
A few days later, while we were training with the knights, Ivy told Ichiro that she had seen something big in the forest. Apparently, killing that one black snake could bring out a more powerful monster since black snakes are supposed to be its prey.
However, Ichiro didn’t seem to worry about the fairie’s warning. Not that he didn’t take it seriously. He just looked like he had it under control, no matter what kind of monster it would be.
Ichiro reported to the adventurers guild about the black dragon serpent that could potentially attack, and they dispatched different groups to locate it while we went back to our routine.
A few days later, the scouts returned, saying they had found the black dragon serpent but would need a large group of people to hunt it down.
The high-ranked adventurers in town began to get ready and formed a large party to go into the forest. The knights also stopped their training and moved to the town’s gates to reinforce the defenses, just in case.
Our group went a different way from the adventurers, but we ended up meeting them again after scouting for the entire day and finding the serpent engaged in battle with them.
