Chapter 23: Trying to lie
"Take her to the prison," Hurijaa yelled at a guard.
Julian was a bit surprised, but he didn't make it evident.
Instead, he exchanged one last glance with Rehul. One that said:
'Calm down, I know what I'm doing'
The guard took Rehul away, forcefully by the way, almost hurting her.
But she was strong. Being a commander, being handled roughly was the least of the things that could pull her down.
The guard, with Rehul's hands firmly clenched in his, took her away.
Rehul tried to make her expression indifferent. And it worked, by the way.
Now only Julian and Hurijaa were remaining.
When Julian had brought Rehul to the empress, he had made it seem like a struggle. He actually, beforehand, told Rehul to act like she was fighting free.
She did so on their way here, struggling and wriggling her feet as he held her just a bit above the air.
