Elliana reached her room, her gaze falling on the dress that the maid said Mr. Marino asked a tailor to prepare.
She held the fabric in her hand, her mind going back to how he let another woman take off his mask, and her heart squeezed painfully.
She slid down the side of the bed.
Thousands of emotions crossed her heart within that split second, the prime one being tearing them apart.
Circe became worried about their human counterpart who wasn’t crying for the first time.
Elliana was just sitting there as if her body was in shock. Her mind was numb, almost empty as if she forced herself into some parallel universe to save her soul from this kind of pain.
Elliana closed her eyes for a second, smiling softly. She was losing her mind, but she wouldn’t cry. She told herself.
Leila told her that the people observing her heard her cries, and that was the last thing she wanted to happen, her tormentors to see how broken and pathetic her life was turning.
With her hands covering her face, she took a deep shaky breath. It was getting hard for her to even breathe and her lips whimpered.
Elliana gulped and opened her eyes when she felt a strong burning in her hand, and she looked at the cross burn mark.
It hurt her. Elliana instinctively placed her hand on the burn mark, her brain immediately turning numb. It felt like something suctioned her brain.
