Chapter 293: This time he will pursue her
"I don’t know what you are talking about, Aditya. Did someone say anything about me?" Madeline asked, her eyes soft, giving her an innocent look, the same look that Aditya fell for every single time.
However, for some reason, this time he wanted to be Adamant, and though he didn’t have any proof against his fiancee or whether Elliana was speaking the truth or not, he wanted to take this chance.
"You see, Madeline, you know I am going to be the next council head, so it would look pitiful if you out of all the people in the world think I am dumb enough to raise an allegation without knowing anything about it.

Madeline was shocked. Though he has been cold in the past and sometimes atrociously neutral to her, this was the first time he indirectly called her fake or her demeanor a pretense.
She hadn’t expected it at all.
Her hands turned sweaty, and she looked at her mother, who was equally surprised and ready to take some answers.
Marla knew something was definitely wrong, or her daughter wouldn’t have been acting like she was caught doing something wrong, but even so, she didn’t want her daughter to be humiliated like this, especially in front of her father who was already in a sour mood these days after Elliana had to go in Madeline’s place.

Madeline heaved a breath of relief when Aditya didn’t pursue the matter. But that doesn’t mean she won’t have to formulate a lie to tell her mother too.
And though her mother saved her in front of her dad and fiance, it was her mother that Madeline needed to be most wary of.
