"Elliana, I wanted to talk to you about something," Marcello stopped Elliana before she could exit the area, and she turned to him.
"What is this all about?" She asked, tilting her head cutely, and Marcello sighed.
"Can I see your face? I honestly feel like I am talking to a spy or agent whenever I look at you," Marcello sighed.
"You already got to know my name, hear my real voice, meet my team, hide with the people I have befriended for my hidden motives. Isn’t that enough for you? Don’t become too greedy, Marcello. Let’s not forget that you are a vampire Duke," Elliana said.
Marcello narrowed his eyes. He didn’t like the way she addressed him as if his intentions were still unclear to her.
"Elliana, what is that supposed to -"
"Do you think I am a fool, Marcello?" Elliana smiled, her sarcasm showing in her eyes.
"Do you think you will come to me and tell me that you are in danger from the royals and you need protection, and like a softhearted human I will help you?" Elliana asked.
"But isn’t that exactly what happened? Apart from the fact that you already knew I was in danger," Marcello asked.
Though he was putting up a confused and innocent facade, even he felt like he was about to be exposed, and Elliana could see it in his eyes.
"One of the most important and powerful Vampire Dukes who is respected by all is in danger from the royals? The same royals who want to meet him and ’Capture’ him because they want his support on their side? And why not? This cunning Duke has the entire black market in his hands," Elliana said, and the more she said, the more Marcello’s expression changed.
