Chapter 123: Useless tricks
"Can you move in this dress? It’s a bit tight fitting, but this is what you are going to wear at the meet, okay?" Marla looked at Madeline, who bit her lips before nodding meekly.
Madeline looked at herself in the mirror from a distance, sitting on her bed, and stood to walk around when her foot entangled with the cloth of the dress and she stumbled ahead, falling on the carpet.
"You can’t even handle a dress. How are you going to handle Elliana, hmm? I heard what happened at the school’s function. Do you think it was funny? Having your boyfriend run behind some other girl whose identity isn’t even disclosed yet?" Marla asked before walking to Madeline and gripping her jaws in a tight grip.
"You are losing from her when no one knows she is a princess for real. What will you do when her identity as the hunter’s bloodline illegitimate daughter, and the youngest Vampire prince’s wife would be revealed?
Will you have any fame or face to show anyone? You can’t even handle such small matters, and to think you are aiming for the position of the queen," Marla scoffed, pulling Madeline’s face up to look into her eyes.
"Mom, I... I really tried -"
"You know what? It’s not Elliana’s fault anymore. It’s your fault. You are the one who can’t handle a ba*tard child. Who asked you to play such childish tricks as those? Do you think omitting her name from some petty event or making that chandelier fall or spiking her drinks would really work? If you think so, maybe I haven’t taught you enough," Marla pulled Madeline through her hair.
"Mom, it’s hurting me," Madeline groaned in pain, and Marla shook her head at her daughter.
"It’s hurting you? It’s hurting me more to think my daughter is so incapable and useless," Marla’s hands fisted into Madeline’s hair more tightly, and she pulled her all the way in front of the mirror.
