Unholy Player

Chapter 101: Power Ranking (Part 4)

Following Corven’s lead, Adyr found himself in a room larger than the previous one. The floor and walls appeared to be made of reinforced black metal—thick, industrial, and designed to withstand impact. As with the other testing chamber, the room was monitored from behind a reinforced observation window, where a control lab and a wall of monitors stood behind thick glass.

At the center of the room stood a structure Adyr didn’t immediately recognize by material, but its purpose was clear. It was some sort of impact target, meant to measure raw force. The surface was matte gray, mounted to the ground with thick steel springs that anchored it in place. The entire structure had an elastic, shock-absorbing design, built to absorb and record tremendous physical blows without breaking.

"It’s as simple as it looks, Mr. Adyr. Just use your strength and strike the target. Three hits in total—we’ll take the highest one as your score," Corven explained plainly.

"Okay," Adyr replied, then paused for a moment before asking, "Can I use my Spark abilities?"

His tone was calm, his face unreadable. But the moment he spoke those words, the entire research team froze. A few even dropped their notebooks.

Even Victor was stunned. "You have a Spark?" he asked from behind the glass, his voice coming through the microphone, eyes wide.

Victor himself had become an evolver, but the Spark he had evolved with was his first—and even that had taken an enormous amount of effort to find and capture. He didn’t have the energy reserves to subdue another, and truthfully, he wasn’t even confident he’d be able to find a second one anytime soon, let alone gather enough energy crystals to subdue it.

And now, standing in front of him, Adyr had casually revealed that he had not only evolved but had already subdued another Spark and was ready to use its power.

"Yeah," Adyr said with a small smile, taking note of Victor’s reaction.

So he evolved but doesn’t have a spare Spark to subdue, Adyr thought.

While the researchers stood frozen in stunned silence, Corven finally spoke.
