Chapter 50 - 49 - The Truth in Twilight
Mira, who had been standing beside them all this time, could only watch the two of them with a blank stare. As if her presence meant nothing, as if the world belonged only to the pair now silently gazing at each other. They stood so close, drowned in emotions she couldn’t begin to understand, making the bustle of the city around them feel distant and irrelevant.
And yet, people were still passing by. The sounds of footsteps, soft conversations, and the scent of food from stalls along the square were still there. But to Riven and Ashtoria, it was as if all of it had vanished.
Mira had thought about interrupting—saying something, maybe even joking like she usually would—but she could feel the tension lingering in the air. Something serious, something deeply personal was happening between them. And for the first time, she chose not to interfere.
With a quiet movement, she averted her eyes and spotted a wooden bench not far from where they stood. She walked over and sat down slowly, letting out a soft sigh from exhaustion. Her legs ached from walking and standing too long, but that fatigue was now forgotten—replaced by a curiosity she couldn’t ignore.
From the bench, Mira watched them both with a deep, intrigued gaze and a slight smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
The smile of someone who realized... she was witnessing something rare.
Something that would change everything.

Riven felt that the answer he gave earlier had already made his stance clear. But when he saw the look in Ashtoria’s eyes—sharp, demanding, yet hiding a pain he couldn’t grasp—he knew it wasn’t enough.
