Seonhwa walked down the long corridor toward the servants’ wing.
In her hands, she carried the now-empty kettle and tea cups.
’Master came back after a while... but now he is about to leave so soon...?’
She was humming softly under her breath as she walked down the corridor.
But as she stepped into the large shared kitchen for the maids, her humming slowly faded.
Across the room, three women were huddled together near the counter, pointing toward her and laughing under their breath.
Seonhwa’s dark eyes narrowed slightly as she recognized them.
They were the same three who had always looked down on her since the day she became a personal maid to the Herald himself.
Their envy was obvious; they hated that someone like her, a quiet nobody, had been chosen to serve the most important figure in the Church.
She glanced away calmly, ignoring them, and made her way to the counter.
Setting down the kettle and cups, she turned on the tap and began to rinse them.
