Chapter 171: Japanese dinner
The two of them stepped out into the neon-lit streets of the Japanese city.
Storefronts glowed with paper lanterns and bright kanji signs, advertising izakayas, ramen shops, and yakiniku joints.
Yverine was already waiting for them by the corner, leaning casually against a lamppost in a dark bomber jacket, earbuds hanging loose around her neck.
Her eyes caught Brandon immediately, then flicked to Naevora "You took your time."
"We had to deal with someone struggling with her boots," Brandon replied, pointing at Naevora.
Naevora jabbed him with her elbow. "Shut it."
Yverine lowered her head before turning away "Let's just eat. I haven't had proper Japanese food in ages."
They ended up at a traditional washoku-style restaurant, tucked in a quiet side street near the river.
A red noren curtain fluttered above the entrance, and the gentle clack of wooden sandals could be heard inside as waitresses moved between tatami mat rooms.
Paper lanterns hung from the ceiling, casting their delicate light over scroll paintings and small bonsai in the corners.
A young hostess in a yukata greeted them with a bow.
Understanding that they are foreigners, she spoke in english "Three?" she asked, smiling politely but visibly flustered, looking at Brandon.
