Brandon stared at Elize in disbelief after hearing her words.
A few moments passed as he processed the information, and he lowered his gaze to her lap.
A soft murmur escaped his lips "So I am just a lab experiment?"
Hearing this, Elize’s eyes shrank and she hurriedly shook her head "No, no dear..."
She leaned forward and hugged him in her arms, wrapping her arms around his shoulder. "You are my son..."
Her hands gently caressed his back tenderly, the way she had done when he was a boy waking from a nightmare. "Even Marzella loved you,"
"You were never just a subject to her. From the moment she felt your heartbeat inside her womb... you became her everything."
Brandon’s head dipped slightly as he closed his eyes, feeling the steady rhythm of Elize’s heart beneath her chest.
"She didn’t just create you to prove something," Elize murmured, her fingers gently brushing his hair back.
"She wanted you. She cried the first time she held you. I’ve never seen her cry like that... not in all the years I knew her."
Elize pulled back slightly, cupping his face in her hands, forcing him to meet her eyes "She gave you everything, Kael. She risked everything. And I... I have never thought of you as anything other than my son."
