Chapter 25 An Unexpected Encounter
"That woman is shameless, she’s way older than you and still trying to hit on you!" **Emily** fumed. "Tell me who she is, and I’ll go find her!"
"**Jack**. It’s none of your business, okay?" **Jack** explained.
"No way, I can’t just ignore this. You’re under my command, and I have to look out for you."
**Emily’s** stubbornness was really getting on **Jack’s** nerves. "Ms. **Chad**, can you stop meddling in my life? You’re my boss, not my mom. Why do you think you can control me like this?"
**Jack’s** words left **Emily** momentarily speechless.
She asked herself, ’Why do I care so much about him? Am I jealous? No, that can’t be it!’
**Emily** took a deep breath, nodded, and said, "Fine. I won’t bother you anymore. It’s your call from now on."
With that, she turned and walked away.
**Jack** felt a pang of regret as soon as he spoke. Watching **Emily** leave, he wanted to apologize but just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
He thought, ’Forget it, let it go.’
Feeling distracted, **Jack** wandered aimlessly down the street.
