Chapter 156 – Unregistered
Lux barely saw the shift. Just a blur of ember-lined motion as the man reappeared behind him—really behind him, not the shadow husk. This time his footstep landed with weight. Real presence. Real mass. The dagger in Lux’s left hand caught the blow mid-spin, scraping against a weapon so jagged it looked carved from a collapsed star.
The shockwave burst outward in a ring of cracked pavement and dislodged city dust. Neon lights flickered. Somewhere down the block, a car alarm started screaming.
Lux exhaled and stepped into the clash, his boot sliding forward as he twisted, slamming Devorare toward the man’s ribs. But the bastard was fast. Not teleporting. Just faster. The blade grazed nothing.
Movement on the right.
The woman blurred in with a sweep of fire-soaked claws. No blade. Just elongated fingers crackling with chaotic red-white magic—like holy fire had decided to betray its owner.
Lux flipped backward, wings flaring wide.
The moment he landed, he snapped his wrist.
"Demonic Orbs."
The street dimmed.
From the shadows behind his back, fifty floating spheres of midnight energy blinked into existence—each pulsing with debt-bound curses, volatile chaos, or minor explosive charges. The air cracked. The orbs whirled around him like a mad halo—erratic, deadly, barely-contained will.
"System," Lux said under his breath. "Full list of their skills. Now." He didn’t understand why the system didn’t give him after he ordered it the first time.
