Primordial Heir: Nine Stars

Chapter 37: Magic Class Part 2

"Like the Knight System, we also have four stages. Who can name them?" Melinda asked, prompting the cadets to raise their hands. She selected Khione.

The ice queen stood up and answered calmly, "Low, Intermediate, High, and lastly, the Apex level. Each of these levels has a name."

"Indeed. Can you enlighten your classmates?" Melinda requested.

At her teacher’s prompting, Khione nodded and continued, "Apprentice, Adept, Master, and finally Grandmaster, also known as Archmage." She sat back down as soon as she finished her explanation.

"Good answer. As Khione mentioned, in our Magic System, a low-level Mage is referred to as an Apprentice Mage, an Intermediate level is called an Adept Mage, while a High level is known as a Master Mage. The final stage, the Apex level, is called Grandmaster, or Archmage. Reaching this level should be your ultimate goal. I won’t lie; not everyone here can attain that level, but by aiming high, you can achieve commendable results. My goal is to help you," Melinda explained, her students nodding with determination in their eyes. Indeed, while not everyone present could reach the Archmage level, that didn’t mean they shouldn’t try; at best, they could aspire to become Master Mages.

"What is primordial energy?" Melinda asked suddenly. Khione was the first cadet to raise her hand. Though her face was devoid of any expression, it couldn’t mask her thirst for knowledge. A true bookworm at heart, she was eager to learn more and share what she knew whenever possible. After all, knowledge is a powerful weapon, setting humanity apart from animals and mindless monsters.

Seeing her expressionless student eager to share her knowledge, Melinda beamed inwardly and naturally chose her.

"Primordial energy comes from life itself. It flows through every living thing, but unfortunately, that doesn’t mean everyone can use it."

It was a simple yet concise explanation. Melinda nodded, pleased with Khione’s answer, and continued, adding a bit more information.

"As your classmate mentioned, Primordial energy is life itself; think of it like the ambient air—extremely vital to any living being because we couldn’t breathe without it. Not everyone can harness this primordial energy, which is also known as Prana. This energy has existed since the beginning of the universe and was used to create our world, shaping it into what it is today. Initially, we couldn’t access this energy, but through trial and error, and with the help of the creator gods, we became able to wield it."

"What is it that Prana provides?" Melinda asked, prompting everyone to raise their hands. Khione was the quickest to respond again, but this time, Melinda chose to give others a chance. It was important to ensure fairness; otherwise, it might seem as though she was showing preferential treatment to Khione, which was not her intent.

This time, Melinda selected Lux, who stood up to provide his answer.
