Chapter 18: Getting Ready

"What do you think about this dress, Miss?" Ada asked, holding up a purple dress that looked so gorgeous and breathtaking.
However, I shrugged and nodded. "It’s pretty."
Ada held the dress against her chest and let out a sigh. "You’ve given the same responses to the last four dresses, ma’am." She gently pointed out and I let out another sigh as I slumped into the seat behind me.
"That’s because I don’t want to go to this... ball." I let out through another sigh.
This wasn’t how I imagined attending my first ball was gonna be like. I imagined it being in a completely different way, of it being of my own will, and with someone that I love by my side. Not this way, whereby I’m literally being forced to.
"The ball is gonna be so much fun though!" She breathed out enthusiastically but all I could do was to let out another sigh.
Iris returned at that moment with a bunch of shoes which she lined up before me, urging me to pick one. I was too uninterested to even appreciate the beautiful shoes lined up before me so I shrugged and asked her to pick anyone she thought was the best. I told Ada the same thing, and after they selected different things for me, a bath was ran for me.
In the bath, as the maids waited for me to be done, I began to ask them some questions.
