The Cursed Triplet Alphas' Fated Mate

Chapter 7: Fleeing

I did quick calculations while staring at the distance between the window and the ground. It was quite high and I’d injure myself if I chose to jump that far. The second option I had was to try using the bedsheets I could find in the wardrobe, but the problem was that people on the lower floor might notice the bedsheets dangling over their windows and might alert some guards that way, and that wasn’t what I needed right now. What I needed was something that would bring me any sort of attention.

The tree beside this room’s window was quite far than I’d have liked, because if it was closer, I’d have just walked into the tree than climbed down. But now, the only option I had was jumping from my window onto the nearest tree branch with the hope that I wouldn’t miss it by half an inch.

Instead of doing that instantly, I decided to wait about an hour, hoping that by this time, the guards won’t be at a high alert around my room like I was certain they already are.

When I finally jumped out of the window, my heart flew into my throat and I had to stop myself from screaming from fright. I ended up missing the branch I was eying, but I ended up catching another branch which prevented me from falling, but I was breathing so hard because it had been so close.

I pulled myself up the branch and sat on it, trying to catch my breath even more. But as soon as I sat on said branch, it gave a churning loud crack, and all I could do was to let out a panicked cry, right before the branch broke into two and sent me falling.

The tree branches hit me in different ways and my arms got scratched by the leaves before I finally managed to catch onto another branch at the last moment, else I’d have fallen face first to the ground.

However, the whole ruckus ended up alerting the guards and I let out a curse as I stared down at them. The guns they had draped over them were pointed at me.

"Get off this instant else we’d shoot. At the count of three!"

There was no time for me to attempt explaining myself. I hurried off the tree and fell the rest of the way, but the distance wasn’t a lot any longer so the fall didn’t injure me, aside from knocking the wind out of me.

About a dozen guns were pointed right at me by the guards who were now surrounding me, but as I carefully sat up, a wave of pain shot through my head, making me instantly clutch it.
