Chapter 31: Lice’s House(Part-3)

Walking out of Lice’s room, Dapper headed to the living room, only to realize Mira hadn’t returned there.

’There must be some kind of security measures here, like cameras. I need to avoid acting suspicious.’ Dapper thought, placing his palm over his face as if he had forgotten something, then casually walked back up the stairs.

Climbing the staircase, he reached the hallway that led to all the rooms upstairs, then began strolling toward what he assumed was Mira’s room.

’I wonder if Mira still uses that room. They usually switch rooms every now and then,’ Dapper thought to himself, but he kept moving forward. It wasn’t strange for aristocrats to change rooms frequently as there were many rooms available and unused.

Reaching the door of the room he believed was Mira’s, Dapper knocked.

There was no immediate response, but he knocked again. Finally, a voice called out from inside.

"Lice, what do you want? Don’t tell me you came to beg for money!" the voice snapped.

’Wait, this isn’t Mira’s voice. That’s Aya.’ Dapper’s eyes widened. Aya was Lice’s older sister—the fourth child—born just before him. Out of all the girls Dapper had met, none seemed to hate his guts quite like Aya. He never knew what he’d done, but she simply didn’t like him. She was around twenty years old, only slightly older than Lice.

"This isn’t Lice. It’s Dapper."

"Dapper?" Aya repeated, sounding confused. Within seconds, she opened the door, her eyes locking with his. Just like Mira, she had jet-black hair and a striking resemblance to her, but she was much slimmer and looked younger. A round nose ring adorned her face.

"Oh, it’s you, Dapper. Why did you come to see me?" she asked in a slightly stern tone, folding her arms.
