Chapter 24: How To Treat A Husband
"W-What did they say?" Dapper asked, swallowing a mouthful of saliva as fear crept up his spine. He was terrified he’d been caught cheating.
"They said you went to play a game at a new friend’s house," Fred answered, his expression still stoic.
"Oh... yeah, that’s right, haha. I went to chill at his place. Just wanted to relax a bit—my last exam is tomorrow," Dapper replied with a forced smile.
"Haa~ fair enough. I’m sorry, my lord. I didn’t consider that. I guess we were just overly worried about you and didn’t think things through. However, if you want to play games, you can always call me. I actually play games a lot too," Fred said, flashing a smile for the first time—which surprised Dapper, as he’d never seen him smile before.
’Thank my stars. Yavo and Lice actually proved useful for once.’
"So, you play video games too?"
"Yeah, I love them. My favorites are..." Fred began listing different genres, further shocking Dapper.
"Guess we’ll have to play together someday. But how do I explain to Ruth that I went to a friend’s house to play games? You know she doesn’t get me the way you do," Dapper said, glancing at Fred—who was now parking the golf cart in front of the main building.
"Haha, leave that to me, my lord," Fred replied with a smirk.
’Fufu, my plan worked perfectly. But I’ve never seen Mr. Fred this happy. Was it because I mentioned video games?’
Dapper and Fred stepped off the golf cart and walked inside, heading straight to Ruth’s chamber. As they entered, Dapper spotted Ruth pacing the living room, occasionally glancing at the wall clock.
