Chapter 187: Capture The Traitor
Both of the High Priestess’ brows arched up in disbelief. She didn’t anticipate that Mora would be caught this quick. Hasn’t it just been merely weeks since Aleksander and the human slave sat at the throne?
High Priestess Naya grabbed the side of her robes and clenched them in anger. She could feel her sharp nails dig into the inside of her palms despite the fabric in between. Her electric blue eyes turned to the maidservant – she was clearly displeased.
’How could Mora be so careless?!’ she then glared at the priest behind her.
"That man is the traitor," Cordelia spoke with bravery, her voice clear and unwavering despite the daggers that High Priestess Naya sent her way.
"Preposterous! You spew lies from your filthy mouth, woman!" Priest Mora vehemently denied Cordelia’s claims. He turned to the High Priestess, his eyes pleading her to defend him, "Your holiness, High Priestess, she is telling lies!"
High Priestess Naya found Mora’s panic a bit disconcerting. His experience should have made him an expert in controlling his facial expressions, and that of his body language.
What the hell was wrong with him now?
Turning back to look at Cordelia, the High Priestess addressed the others as she asked, "Does anyone actually think this maidservant’s words are to be trusted?"
She walked to the center of the room, her eyes hopping from one conscious noble to the next. High Priestess Naya wanted to make sure that they didn’t even think for a moment that agreeing with the maidservant was a choice.
If they did, then they were bound to receive the High Priestess’ scorn.
"What might your evidence be, lowly maidservant, for you to accuse one of my most trusted priests of treachery to the crown?" High Priestess asked Cordelia.
