The Royal Revenge

Chapter 162: About the Explosion and Fire

Elys and Aleksander didn’t wait anymore for a carriage. They went directly to the stables, picked out the best pair of horses, and went off towards the capital. Sir Wiriam and his knights followed them closely, and both parties were at edge thinking anyone could be the reason for the fire.

It was already around six in the morning, but the sun was steadily rising and shining down on the vampires.

Aside from Elys who was unbothered by the warm early morning sun, Aleksander and the others were heavily clad in dark cloaks and masks that covered their entire faces.

Wiriam came forward, his pace just enough so that he was beside the vampire king but still behind Aleksander in regards to his rank. The young king glanced at Sir Wiriam, and his eyes squinted at the man.

"How have you been lately, Sir Wiriam?" Aleksander asked him.

"Doing my best to manage the knights and the palace’s safety, your majesty," Sir Wiriam responded, "I have tightened the security of the Rose Palace where your chambers are."

"Hmm... most commendable, I must say," Aleksander praised him.

"It is but my job to protect you and the queen, your majesty."

Elys’ horse neighed loudly, and Aleksander quickly glanced at his wife’s side. Their eyes locked in for a moment, and he knew Elys was closely listening with their conversation. She had a look in her face that he could only surmise as wariness.
