The Royal Revenge

Chapter 118: A Queen Doesn’t Sleep on the Sofa

After what seemed like hours, Aleksander eventually got himself out of bed. He padded his way to a table where Henry had left out several documents he specifically instructed to bring over. He opened one journal, and noted the precise and elegant handwriting of his wife.

"How can I ever redeem myself with this woman, really?" he muttered under his breath.

The young king sat down and pored over the notes Elys had written for him. He took a feather and dipped it in ink, wrote several notes of his own and then studied other documents he himself made several years prior to this day.

Aleksander was taken by surprise how detailed his notes had been when he was younger. It made him wonder when had it been that he succumbed to the idea that he alone wasn’t enough to fight his father.

’If you really hate your father that much, then do something about it. Don’t be a boy that cries injustice without lifting a finger. Instead, be a man, take that rage in your heart and make him pay.’

That was what Elys had slapped into him the day after their wedding.

"What are you doing?"

The hair on Aleksander’s nape stood on its ends. He was so deep in thought that he didn’t even realize Elys already returned.

Aleksander turned around to see his wife stood behind him, peering over the documents he had in his hands. Elys reached out to a sheet of paper he had scribbled on to. Her eyes darted back and forth as she read them one by one, and Aleksander was taken aback as he heard her stifle a laugh.
