The Royal Revenge

Chapter 96: Red Funeral

Elys found herself tapping her foot incessantly as she waited for Henry to calm down. Cordelia wasn’t with him as he entered, which made her assume that the maidservant must have been the one who took the horse they rode to the stables.

Just as she had thought of the maidservant, the double doors opened and Cordelia came in. The old woman noticed how Henry had huffed and puffed, seemingly out of breath as he had stupidly dashed into the manor when the horse was yet too far.

The princess stared at the attendant.

He seemed spooked, his eyes turning to see if there were anyone else inside the manor spying on them. Henry then lowered his voice into barely a whisper, beckoned Aleksander closer and spoke inaudibly.

Aleksander jerked backwards, his eyes turning from his silvers to piercing gold. Elys noted on this, as she had been quite curious about the reason behind the shifting of his eye color.

Perhaps the prince would explain if she asked now, considering he had already groveled to ask for her forgiveness, maybe he’d be keen to answer if she asked.

But that question was yet to be pushed aside when Aleksander spoke in response to Henry’s information.

"The king and queen are dead?" he blurted out.

The attendant winced a bit by the words spoken by the prince. It was pretty obvious that Henry wasn’t comfortable talking about it so openly. Beside the old man, Cordelia merely stared with a blank expression.
