The Royal Revenge

Chapter 63: A Pack of Wolves Isn’t Good

There was an undeniable glow out there. As the carriage came closer, the glowing orbs multiplied into several pairs, and Henry started to panic.

"Did that just blink?" he asked. "Did that just blink?!"

"Don’t panic, you idiot, you are screaming my ear off!" Cordelia complained, her forehead wrinkled as her brows knitted together in annoyance.

"It just blinked," Henry repeated, still unable to process Cordelia’s words as the horses continued to run forward.

"Many predators feed on fear," Cordelia tried to talk to him logically, "I thought you already know that as an attendant to a vampire. Prince Aleksander should be feared more than animals."

Quite unexpectedly, Cordelia felt Henry reach out to her arm and gripped her firmly, trying to ground himself to something strong and stay calm. If Cordelia wasn’t concentrating on the road ahead, she would have already howled in laughter.

But the situation seemed too serious to tease the old man.

Even with his cowardly episodes, Henry was a trusted and useful attendant. He was far easier to manipulate too. If he had a heart attack because of her teasing, Cordelia feared the attendant that would replace him wouldn’t be as easy to push around.

Growls rose in the air, and with it the hairs of the two servants in front of the carriage stood up as they announced together, "Wolves!"
