Chapter 361: The Simple Things
Raine spent the entirety of her day with Mara. Spending time with one another, she discovered that both of them had a lot of things in common except for the fact that she was a lot more private and introverted person compared to Mara. They talked about a lot of things, and she answered all of Mara’s questions whenever they came up.
They enjoyed their time together so much that both of them didn’t even notice the hours passing by. Their father would occasionally check on them from time to time throughout it all, asking if they wanted some snacks or anything else while they talked.
"Dad is like a programmed robot in human skin," Mara couldn’t help but comment with a sigh. "I feel sad seeing him acting like that."
"It couldn’t be helped because of the curse, unfortunately," Raine sighed. "Tomorrow, I’ll visit the Mirage Historian Carlos and see if he knows something about this curse. You can come with me as well just so that I can introduce you to him. You might like him. He’s a man who knows almost everything because of his gift of vision."
Seeing Mara nod, Raine then moved to face her twin on the couch as she comfortably sat with her legs crossed together while hugging a very fluffy pillow.
"So tell me... I want to know everything about you and Chad," Raine inquisitively began. "I feel like he’s someone special to you. And honestly, I know nothing about you two except for the fact that Chad was the one who stayed with you for two years in that private facility on Keira’s Island..."
Upon hearing her twin’s question, Mara began blushing up a storm. Immediately, Raine could absolutely tell that there was indeed something going on between her twin and Chad even after all these years of not seeing each other.
Cornered, Mara began detailing her story to Raine, starting from all her experiences on that isolated island, all the way to her tagging along with Keira and Zach once the two were rescued.
"John is Keira’s bodyguard, who she assigned to stay with me and oversee my rehabilitation for those two years," Mara stated. "For those two years, I trusted no one else but him..."
