Chapter 356: Messed up Origins
Raine was hoping that Mara already had enough knowledge about supernatural things even if it was through myths just so that it would be easier for her to explain things further. Fortunately, based on the reports, her twin had a very exceptional level of intelligence. Also, Keira had made sure that her sister knew how to protect herself, which meant that she was also well-trained in physical fighting.
Thinking about it, Raine found herself thinking of ways how to show her gratitude to Keira and her husband Zach, who was now currently the Field Marshall for Country D. They had provided her twin sister with everything she could ever need and even made sure that Mara was well prepared to face the outside world in all of its aspects.
At her question, Mara sighed. "I know everything about it, along with all the other creatures that came with knowing them," she replied. "The moment I learned how to read back when I was in the facility with big sister Keira, the first thing I did was to search for what I really am. I knew that I’m quite different from other normal people here, so..."
She gulped, letting out another sigh before she continued. "I mean, I grew up speaking and only knowing the language of the Moonshine Tribe. Living on their isolated island for twenty-three years, it was obvious to me that they weren’t humans, but were actually werewolves the whole time."
Raine did her best to stop herself from interrupting and correcting Mara with the fact that there were also mythical and supernatural creatures roaming around them. That they were all simply being discreet wearing disguises. Instead, she let Mara continue her narration and explanations. She would just have told her twin that they called those underworld creatures here mutants later.
"I’m honestly glad that Keira and her husband accidentally found that island," Mara weakly chuckled. "I can’t imagine myself still living with those monsters and becoming the chosen Luna and breedmate for their Alpha."
Raine bit her lower lip as she wondered how Mara would react once she found out about Nathan being a werewolf. A while ago, she had just called werewolves monsters, so she could only assume that those of the Moonshine Tribe were like those werewolves from the stone ages, acting as if civilization hadn’t reached their island yet.
"They’re scary. They’d kill anyone who’d come to their island and even eat their flesh," Mara murmured, shivering from the memory of it all. "I couldn’t bear to watch them do it with their monstrous appearance."
Raine sighed deeply before quickly pulling Mara into her embrace. She could feel how unhappy Mara was on that island. Based on the report she got, that isolated island and the Moonshine Tribe inhabiting said island were confirmed to be a tribe of werewolves. The tribe would constantly refuse any interactions with the outside world, and they were also quite hostile to outsiders to the point of killing people who landed or even tried to approach the island.
