Chapter 330: Without Making a Sound (1)*
The rest of the day went by fairly quickly after that one discussion. The three of them roamed around in the park, and they sampled a few of the stalls open for snacks before they watched the sun set beyond the horizon. From there, they ate out for dinner before going back home.
Despite all the enjoyment, however, Raine couldn’t help but feel a bit worried for Cali despite Nathan’s reassurances. It just didn’t sit right with her to enjoy herself while someone she cared about was in danger. Still, she soldiered on, and by the time she was alone in bed with Nathan again, she couldn’t help but chuckle to herself at the random thought that just came to her.
"So, are you going to punish me or not?"
"I thought that was a joke," Nathan chuckled as he stirred beside her, his embrace loosening as he turned to look at her. "You really want me to punish you?"
"I want to think about something else," Raine insisted with a sigh. "I just can’t help but think about the mission."
"You know that all that stress won’t be good for Aire, right?"
She frowned. "Are you going to offer to take over my own mission again? You know what happened last time when you forced your own opinions on me earlier."
"N-Not like that," Nathan quickly rebuffed. "As I said earlier, I already have a few of my men watching the house twenty-four hours a day. And even if they aren’t I already said earlier that Balon won’t strike anytime soon."
"Still..."
