Chapter 311: Suffer through the Heat
After the trial was over, Boris went home as early as he could. He wouldn’t have done so under normal circumstances, but with Lyne having messaged him that she cooked dinner for themselves, he couldn’t help but hurry up and meet up with her.
Practically racing across the driveway, Boris parked his car and made a beeline for Lyne. He didn’t know where she was, but she was probably by the kitchen if she had done some cooking for them.
"Lyne? I’m back," Boris called out as he entered the kitchen, his weary sight being soothed by the image of Lyne wearing an apron and finishing up with her cooking. "Oh, that actually smells good."
"You’re saying that as if I can’t cook normally," Lyne scoffed as she scooped up a ladle of what looked to be curry onto a bowl of rice. "Do you really think that’s what I want to hear, Boris?"
"W-Wha- S-Sorry," he quickly backtracked, scratching the back of his head even as his eyes never left her form. "It’s just... It smells better than most cooking I’ve ever smelled."
Lyne seemingly flinched for a brief second before she continued on as normal. Despite the faint blush coloring her cheeks, she moved with careful precision, scooping up ladles of curry onto bowls of rice.
"Thank you," Lyne quietly murmured as she set the table. "And as you might want to know, I do make a mean curry."
As if to emphasize the fact, she gestured for him to sit, to which he gladly obliged as she watched her work. Giving her the bowl of curry rice she had prepared, she then took off her apron before sitting in front of him. With her own portion of her meal in front of her, she grabbed her spoon and began eating without any sort of warning.
Absently, Boris watched Lyne eat, her movements being recorded into memory as she casually ate as if she wasn’t even eating with him. Before long, however, she turned her gaze to look at him, a questioning look in her eyes as she put down her spoon.
