The Untamed: Game of Hearts

Chapter 271: Your Warmth

Raine waited patiently inside Nathan’s room, sighing constantly as that was the only thing she could do while waiting for her mate to arrive. It also didn’t help that a while ago, she could feel that he had mixed emotions brewing inside him, and it made it difficult for her to interpret just what exactly he was feeling. Despite it, however, she knew that a part of him was still mad at her.

Letting out another sigh, she stood up from her seat and walked right out to the balcony. Looking around, she could barely see anything in the vicinity except for the lights in each house illuminating the compound. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, immersing herself in her surroundings. Taking a small whiff of the air, she smiled when she noticed Nathan’s familiar scent.

"I wonder... Why won’t you shut off your emotions..."

Raine whispered out into the wind, her eyes still closed as she pondered aloud. She was aware that werewolves could put up something like a protective wall or a barrier to hide their emotions from their mate. But for some reason, Nathan didn’t bother shutting her off even after all this time.

"It’s because you did the same," Nathan answered behind her.

Not bothering to turn around, Raine simply smiled and replied, "Why would I? I did erase your memories of me in your head, knowing how it will affect your rational decision-making. Still, that doesn’t mean that I intended you to cut me out of your heart and your life."

There was nothing but a deafening silence between them. A few seconds passed, and Raine suddenly frowned. Reaching out from within her, she could no longer feel Nathan’s emotions. He had finally hidden his feelings from her.

’This brute!’ she annoyingly thought to herself but chose not to voice it out loud. Feeling petty, she did the same, blocking Nathan from feeling her emotions as well.

Soon enough, he spoke up once more. "What are you thinking, coming in here like that?"
